Previous WWE Champion Daniel Bryan Foils Robbery of His Home

Previous WWE Champion Daniel Bryan Foils Robbery of His Home

Now I have heard some stories in the past about home invasions or robberies gone bad, don't get me wrong. I once watch David Letterman I think it was with Brandon Lee explaining how he stopped a guy from robbing him. He had said something along the lines of "You would have thought the guy breaking in would see the big poster of Bruce Lee in the living room and ran back out not know what he was getting into" lol. However, the guy proceeded to rob him and got busted as he came home in the act of it. Needless to say he took him down till cops arrived.

Someone else as we know has just accomplished similar. Daniel Bryan!!!! Apparently some neighbors had called 911 due to suspicious activity at his residence. As the 2 burglars were on their way out the door, Bryan and his wife Brianna were getting out of the car. The 2 would be burglars spotted them & dropped the loot and took off running. But as far as the former WWE champ was concerned, the battle royal had begun! He took off chasing the robbers for a 2 on 1 handicap match at which point he hoped the catch them to make sure they spent some hell in a cell. One of the guys got away but he did manage to subdue one and placed him in a rear naked choke till the police got to the scene. Here is a link below from a news report locally where Bryan spoke in a press conference.

I can't imagine the looks on their faces probably knowing who he was and seeing him chasing them but it had to be awesome. Luckily, nobody was hurt and as it turned out the suspect caught had warrants out for him on previous felonies. So what do we in the wrestling universe think about this???  YES! YES! YES! YES! YES! YES!

WWE Battleground

WWE Battleground

I sometimes do not understand the WWE and their style of thinking. Is it truly HHH running the show and doing a Bischoff to the WWE or is Vince truly this dense???

The Uso's vs Luke Harper & Eric Rowan was great. Fast paced and entertaining with the Uso's high flying and the brute force of Harper showing his agility with a suicide dive through the ropes. I had to watch that one in silence while working but was still entertaining. The Uso's came out on top but how much longer can they keep those two at bay? It won't be easy.

The Divas match was great I thought, probably the best since Trish Stratus vs Lita. Not a lot I will say about this match as I am not a huge fan of the Diva's matches but I thought that maybe Paige would win back the title. That being said AJ Lee wit the win.

I was really excited about the Real American Jack Swagger vs Rusev match. The WWE truly need to push this angle of Real Americans as faces as long as they can and like I said in blog last week make it a stable. Bring Kurt Angle back to help anchor it down. The match was great with Swagger starting out in control. The match goes back and forth for a while with the momentum going both directions. I can't help it, Rusev is big but I just dont find him impressive. He is stiff in the ring and just not fun to watch. I'm not sure whats worse...his in ring style or Lana on the mic. Match appeared to be going to a double count out with Swagger having Rusev in the Patriot Lock but Rusev managed to pull Swagger into the steel post and jump back in ring at last second. Winner Rusev by count out......pitiful.

Biggest disappointment of the night.... HHH has Ambrose thrown out of building so his plans wouldnt be ruined. Thanks Hunter Hurst Bischoff for robbing the fans of the match of the night. Not even touching this one anymore it was ridiculous.

Chris Jericho Vs. Bray Wyatt was everything I thought it would be. Harper & Rowan got ejected from ringside after interfering one time and both competitors gave it their all. Bray Wyatt has a very bright future in the company providing HHB doesnt mess him up as well. Jericho wins with the Codebreaker.

Battle Royal for the IC Belt. I will have to admit I got fooled. The battle royal was pretty entertaining with the whole group jumping Khali right from the start and eliminating him. Kofi Kingston and Dolph Ziggler are like cats with 9 lives. They kept avoiding elimination. The final 2 competitors were Sheamus & Ziggler and I thought it was over when Ziggler eliminated Sheamus but I forgot that the miz had been knocked through the ropes earlier and just never came back in till the end lol. He eliminates Ziggler and becomes the new IC Champ. This should set up a great fued between the two.

Now for the big dogs!!!! Fatal 4 way. It didnt take Kane long to turn on Orton and try to win the belt. How will HHB take this I wonder? I mean, Hunter Hurst Bischoff cant be that happy with the big red machine. Lot of sweet moves pulled off in this match with Roman Reigns having the highlight of the night in my opinion. Cena gives him the 5 knuckle Shuffle and lets him know he cant see him then BAM! Superman punch lol. Cena did not see that! And no fatal 4 way would be complete without the crazy ending that this was with Cena winning!

No sign of Seth Rollins trying to steal a chance. All in all it was a pretty good ppv but I've seen better no doubt. Can we please get rid of the Authority?? I still feel robbed of the Ambrose vs Rollins match. Well that's my 2 cents on what happened tonight and as always please leave comments and tell me your thoughts on the ppv. What was your favorite match? Were you happy with the outcome? What do you look forward to after this now? Bring it back to me people, Like Big Poppa Pump says" Holler if you hear me!!!".

We The People

We   The   People

This week I went to youtube for the first of hopefully many video blogs. I had to keep it short as I was time constrained but hope to do longer ones soon. This topic is going to touch on The Real Americans in the WWE so please play the video and afterwards I have some follow up material I want to add.

Now, I truly believe these guys deserve a push. And yes, I was serious about a stable. Why not??? Sign Kurt Angle back and bring in 2 young guys like they did with The Shield and form a stable of The Real Americans. The thing is, they don't have to be fighting FOREIGN threats all the time. Remember, Zeb said he signed up to fight all threats foreign AND domestic. They could take a run at the authority as a domestic threat or turn Cena heel and let him go bad marine that hates his country now. Half the crowd boo's him nightly anyways. Everybody knows the WWE has a tendency to bury the talent in favor of a "name brand" wrestler that wants to come back again. But you can't hold them back forever & this just seems like the right time to make the move.

I would practically beg the WWE to do this if I actually knew anyone in the business. That being said it reminds me of a funny thing someone used to tell me. Well funny to me anyways cause it was such a big lie but I wish it were true. They used to tell me that I was just friends with Dutch Mantell and that was why I was always putting him out there as a big talent. I talked a lot about a lot of people but I am not related to them or best friends with them. Bottom line: the man knows talent and back in t he day he was a pretty good booker as well.

As always, I want to know what you think about the matter so please, leave comments on the board here on your thoughts on The Real Americans and how you think they should be used. If you didn't do so then please go back to video and subscribe to the youtube channel and follow us here at the following places:

What Makes A Great Wrestler & Champion???

What Makes A Great Wrestler & Champion???

That is the question that I want to pose to you tonight. In your honest opinion, what do you think makes a great wrestler & champion? I think that everyone has their unique perspective on what it takes and I am going to tell you some of the qualities I think this title entails.

First of all, a great wrestler has to be able to control the feeling of the crowd. What I mean by this is that they must bring the absolute best out of the crowd that night. If you are a heel then you better have them booing you & hating you on a nightly basis. Ric Flair is probably one of the greatest at doing just that. He was great on the mic and could make you a believer that he was 24/7 stylin & profiling. Dusty Rhodes was the same. The crowds followed close every word the man said. Jerry "The King" Lawler was one that also knew how to work a crowd whether heel or face And all three of the above mentioned names have one thing in common: They were ALL World Heavyweight Champions at one point.

Today, we still have those guys that can carry on and make the fans believe. Stone Cold Steve Austin, The Rock, HHH, John Cena, all of them great on the mic and great in the ring. John Cena although both booed and cheered does so much outside of the ring for the fans. He has answered probably more make a wish requests then any other athlete there ever has been.  So, once again guys & gals..... Tell me, what makes a great wrestler & champion?

I hope to hear a lot of input from you guys on this very topic. I know there are a lot of fans out there that know their wrestling and even if you aren't sure, let me know! everyone has an opinion. So please leave your comments and share this blog with your other wrestling friends. Till next time.

Old School vs Today's Wrestling

       Old School vs. Today's Wrestling

To me, it's a no brainer. Wrestling today can not compare to the type of product that we had back in the day. The wrestlers back then sold the sport & their personality both in ring and out. If Jerry Lawler was heel at the time then in public he would play it the same. Rick Flair was that limousine riding, high flying, kiss stealin' wheeling dealing sonofagun out in public just like he was on TBS when NWA had their 2 hour time slot on Saturday evenings.

As kids we would talk excitedly with each other about what had happened this past weekend on wrestling and we all had our favorites. Memphis wrestling would come to Nashville Fairgrounds as well as smaller venues all around the stat and into other states as well so I grew up watching that the most. The Fabulous Ones Steve Keirn & Stan Lane were my favorites at tag team along with The Rock n Roll Express which was made up of Ricky Morton and Robert Gibson. Back in those days, tag teams were huge! The 80's brought us the 2 above mentioned teams along with other federations tag teams such as The Freebirds, The Road Warriors, The Minnesota Wrecking Crew, The Fantastics, The Moondogs, The sheepherders and SO many more. I could type an entire article just on names alone.

Not that I want to take anything away from the singles category. I mean, we had legends like Harley Race, Rick Flair, Ricky Steamboat, Jerry Lawler, Hulk Hogan, Randy Savage etc etc etc......     The feuds between wrestlers would just be from one pay per view to the next or maybe 2 in a row they would go on for a year or two. And that bad blood would carry to another time down the road. Jerry Lawler & Superstar Bill Dundee were either the best of tag teams or the best of enemies and it went over a long long time back and forth but no matter what they did they did it great for the fans and you believed it when they did it.

Hardly anyone today can display a rage of anger during an interview like a lot of those guys did and make you feel it and believe it. Blood was a thing you seen at every venue, some of them were fights that went all the way back to the concession stands and locker rooms. Check out this fight that went back to the concession area and back stage with what started out as Moondogs vs. Robert Fuller & Jeff Jarret and ended up with Jerry Lawler getting in the mix:

Now let's go to today's business. I stress the word business. It's all about how many PPV's you can sell. How much merchandise can your character bring in. The plus side is though that the sport has become more athletic and these guys stay in tip top shape. You have high flying guys that do things the older guys never dreamed of doing in their day! I remember a guy named 2 Cold Scorpio that came into the WCW and totally amazed me by doing a complete 360 flip into a splash from the top rope. Rey Mysterio has always been amazing in ring to watch with his high flying antics as well as numerous others.

The business started taking a downfall though when it became a competition to see who could run the region. Roy Watts had his area locked down until Vince McMahon started going outside of the territory and challenging. I can't say that was a complete bad thing because it is a business and you are in it for the money. But I really wish that the money would have translated to better paid wrestlers top to bottom. Fritz Von Erich OWNED Texas wrestling hands down but even they started to go down with the introduction of cable television. Smaller federations like my beloved Memphis wrestling were starting to show signs of suffering but they brought in a lot of major talent through there. The Undertaker wrestled there for a while just as Stone Cold Steve Austin. Randy Savage spent time there, the Road warriors did. Sting & T he Ultimate warrior formed a tag team there called the Freedom fighters I believe and the changed to heel as the Bladerunners.

The PPV's are the biggest thing these days. Monday Night Raw is 75% talk and 25% wrestling just to build up to the big money event. The WWE has however come out with their own network that provides us with the ability to buy membership & see all the PPV's free along with classic & original content. While a part of me can get into wrestling today, a major part of me would love to see it go back to way it was. Hopefully, I have found a number of wrestling fans out there that read this and agree but if you don't I wanna hear from you as well. Please leave a comment of your view and share this with your friends and wrestling groups. Together we can Bodyslam the Competition!!!!
